Wilson County Release Date Milestones
A release-date result must be read by its exact label. TDCJ's Projected Release Date is a calculation under the law tied to the offense date and sentence. Parole Eligibility Date means a person may be considered for parole. It does not promise approval. Maximum Sentence Date relates to the calculated outer end of the term. When processing has advanced, the record may separately display Scheduled Release Date, Scheduled Release Type, and Scheduled Release Location.
Actual release is the physical departure from the unit or jail. Even a scheduled field can change while TDCJ checks conditions, detainers, residence plans, and other fast-moving facts. Discharge is different again. It can mark the end of the sentence obligation after an earlier release to parole or mandatory supervision. For Wilson County Jail, the timed release or transfer entry is the key local event. A transfer to TDCJ, ICE, another county, or federal custody is not community release.
- Projected date
- A calculated TDCJ date that can move as law and credits apply.
- Eligibility date
- The first point at which legal review may occur, not a release promise.
- Scheduled date
- A later processing field that remains subject to change.
- Release date
- The recorded day the person physically left that custodian.
- Discharge date
- The end of the sentence or supervision duty.
Find Wilson County Projected Release Dates
Start with the system that now holds the person. The TDCJ Inmate Search covers only people currently incarcerated in a TDCJ facility. It accepts last name, first name, TDCJ number, SID number, gender, and race. The minimum is a last name with at least a first initial, a TDCJ number, or a SID number. TDCJ numbers must be entered as eight digits with leading zeroes, and the last-name field uses an exact match.
- Identify the custodian. Distinguish Wilson County Jail from TDCJ, BOP, ICE, or a federal pretrial holding facility.
- Match strong identifiers. Compare date of birth, TDCJ or SID number, offense county, and case number before using a date.
- Read each field literally. Do not substitute parole eligibility for projected release or scheduled release for actual departure.
- Check the source's age. TDCJ says online data updates on working days and is at least 24 hours old.
- Confirm the event. Call the unit before pickup, or obtain the Wilson jail release or transfer record for a local case.
The TDCJ results list shows name, TDCJ number, current facility, and Projected Release Date. Detail can add the SID number, maximum sentence, parole eligibility, offense history, and scheduled fields when present. This matched image comes from the official TDCJ search.
The screen documents the current-prisoner route. It does not provide a historical released or discharged result after the person leaves TDCJ.
Offense history can include the offense date, offense, sentence date, conviction county, case number, and sentence. These fields help distinguish people with similar names and explain which law may control the date. They do not override a later court order or prove the person is still at the displayed unit. If the last name has changed or an alias was used, the exact-match search can miss the record. Use the TDCJ or SID number when available, then ask the information service when the public form cannot resolve the match.
Note: TDCJ search data is at least 24 hours old and covers current state prisoners, so disappearance alone never proves release.
Wilson County Jail Release Dates
A pretrial detainee usually has no fixed projected release date. Release may depend on satisfying bond, a new court order, dismissal, another case, a detainer, or the time required for jail processing. A sentenced county-jail inmate has a term and jail credit, but the Wilson County Sheriff's public page does not publish a county good-time formula, weekend rule, scheduled-release tool, or release calendar. Applying the TDCJ online calculation to that local sentence would be wrong.
Use the governing judgment, recorded jail credit, later court orders, and the Sheriff's calculation. The Wilson County Sheriff can be reached at 830-393-2535. When the event has occurred, request the permanent jail-register entry plus the booking-out or release/transfer document. The register contains a release or transfer date. The detailed file may contain time, disposition, destination, and the release or transfer order if recorded.
Bond posting and physical exit also differ. Wilson County is covered by a regional standing order for a narrow new-felony-while-on-felony-bail situation under article 17.027. In covered cases, release authority can be limited to the earlier court or its written designee. That is one local reason a reported bond step may precede completed jail release.
Texas Good Time for Wilson Releases
Texas Government Code chapter 498 defines good-conduct time as credit for conduct, diligence, and participation. Under section 498.003, good time affects eligibility for parole or mandatory supervision. It does not otherwise shorten the sentence imposed by the court. Credits may be forfeited under section 498.004, so a prior projected date can move later. Restoration and recalculation can also change what the record displays.
Eligibility rules vary. Under Government Code section 508.145, the serious-offense or deadly-weapon group linked to Code of Criminal Procedure article 42A.054 generally uses actual calendar time equal to one-half the sentence or 30 years, whichever is less, with a two-year floor. Good time does not count toward that eligibility calculation. Other prisoners generally use calendar time plus good time equal to one-quarter of the sentence or 15 years, whichever is less. Offense date, offense, and sentence details can create exceptions, so TDCJ's individual result controls.
Mandatory supervision has its own rules in sections 508.147 through 508.149. Some offenses are excluded. For eligible post-1996 cases, the Board may deny release. No formula guarantees departure on the first eligibility date.
Why Wilson Release Dates Change
A date changes when the legal calculation or the facts used in release processing change. The displayed field should never be read as a promise. TDCJ warns that fast-changing information may not show the true current location, status, or scheduled termination. County dates can also move while the jail receives and validates an order or checks another hold.
| Factor | Possible effect | Best confirmation |
|---|---|---|
| Good-time loss or restoration | Changes eligibility or projected calculations | TDCJ record and information service |
| Parole panel decision | May approve, condition, delay, or deny release | Board result and Parole Division status |
| Program or residence requirement | Can delay action after an approval vote | Review and Release Processing |
| Detainer or another warrant | May lead to continued custody or transfer | Current custodian and receiving agency |
| Court order or sentence change | Can revise the legal term or authority | Filed judgment or later order |
| Feed timing | Can leave the online result behind the live event | Unit or Sheriff's office |
For TDCJ parole, eligibility, panel vote, scheduled release, actual departure, and discharge must remain separate. The Wilson County post-release supervision record becomes relevant only after a confirmed parole or mandatory-supervision release.
Wilson TDCJ Release Date Fallback
When the online search fails or the person has already left TDCJ, use the official information channels. TDCJ directs written requests to its offender-information email guidance and `pia@tdcj.texas.gov`. Provide the full name and seven-digit TDCJ number. If that number is unknown, provide the exact date of birth, or an approximate age with conviction county. Put the person's name in the subject line.
TDCJ states that location and projected-release information are available without charge through that route. General locator numbers are 936-295-6371 and 800-535-0283 on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Before a Board vote, call 844-512-0461. After a vote to release, use Parole Division status at 512-406-5202. The channels differ because each covers a distinct stage.
The captured TDCJ information page shows the projected-date request route and its limits.
This fallback is vital after release because the public TDCJ search includes only current prisoners.
Note: TDCJ does not retain former prisoners in its public current-inmate search, so use records or Parole Division after departure.
Wilson Release Date Channel Sweep
No single database covers every Wilson-connected person. For a county detainee, use the Sheriff, the jail register, and the correct local court. For a person transferred to TDCJ, use the state current-prisoner search before release and TDCJ records or Parole Division afterward. Texas VINE provides county custody status and alerts, but a VINE event does not explain whether the cause was bond, time served, dismissal, or transfer.
For federal Bureau of Prisons custody, the BOP locator can show a projected date while the person remains confined, while BOP record definitions explain Released and Not in BOP Custody. A past date means only that BOP custody ended; another authority may hold the person, and federal supervision may continue. ICE ODLS is the route for civil immigration detention, with search limits described in ICE locator guidance. A federal pretrial detainee held for the U.S. Marshals Service may require the federal docket and actual holding facility because the USMS prisoner-operations source provides no comparable general public locator.
The most dependable sequence is short: identify the last custodian, read that system's date label, check whether another custodian followed, then confirm the physical event with the agency. That process prevents a Wilson County transfer from being mislabeled as community release.
Dates also differ by system. A Wilson booking time marks entry into local processing. A court-order date marks judicial action. A jail release time records local exit. TDCJ eligibility and projected fields describe state calculations, while BOP defines its own release-date and status pair. VINE reports a custody event and may send the notice later than the facility's operational exit. Keeping the source beside each date avoids blending five different milestones into one answer.
Confirm Wilson County Actual Release
Before pickup or travel, contact the current unit or jail. TDCJ expressly tells families to call the unit because online information is delayed. For Wilson County Jail, a court order date can precede physical release while staff receive the order, confirm identity, review detainers, calculate credit, and complete processing. The actual timed entry belongs in the jail record.
After the event, request the record that fits the custodian. Wilson's permanent jail register is the durable local source. TDCJ release or Parole Division records cover state departure. BOP supplies its defined federal status and date. VINE can send a custody notice, but the originating record should confirm the exact type and time. Never turn Not Found into a release date.
